Weekday CNA Instructor
Job Description

The CMETS instructor will instruct consumers/students according to the curriculum designed for each specific course/program in order to build knowledge and skills aimed at consumer/student procuring continuing education units, certifications, trainings and/or state exam prep.  The instructor must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.  The instructor will teach the necessary hours required by each individual class. The salary of the employed' instructor will be paid according to an independent contractor.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Teach the curriculum as outlined in the program's binder

  2. Build knowledge and develop skills aimed at meeting an end result whether it be an exam, a certification, etc.

  3. Maintain accurate records/documents on all consumers/students per state regulations such as  CDPH (California Department of Public Health), (BRN) California Board of Registered Nursing and any other entities involved with CMETS' courses/programs.

  4. Evaluate and document consumer/student progress through testing, observation and assessment of skills attained.

  5. Communicate effectively with consumers/students and all those affiliated with the course/program, including all California state departments.

  6. Provide a stimulating environment that encourages consumer/student participation, interpersonal skills development and concepts of excellent patient care.

  7. Maintain a timesheet and submit it by required deadlines.

  8. Perform all other duties as assigned by the owner.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Licensed nurse (LVN or RN) for courses/programs requiring licensure.

  2. Experienced instructor for courses/programs not requiring licensure.

  3. Meeting the requirements of CDPH.

  4. Have a minimum of one year experience in course/program being taught.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.

  2. Possess a DSD certification/state approval, a teaching credential in a single subject and/or completed training in adult learning.

  3. Knowledge of instruction methodologies.

  4. Organizational skills.

  5. Willingness to be flexible in order to meet the needs of the consumer/student.

  6. Possess positive interpersonal relationships and communication skills.

  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively when necessary.

  8. Participates in program evaluations and continuous improvement process (CQI).

  9. Engage in professional development and faculty meetings.

  10. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.

  11. Knowledge of all equipment and appropriate usage.

 

REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES

This position reports directly to the company's owner.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.

  • Ability to stand or sit for a period of 1 to possibly 2 hours.

  • Ability to demonstrate specific skills/procedures in 10 to 15 minute increments.

  • Ability to keyboard for appropriately a half hour.

  • Moderate amount of travel within a 200 mile radius of CMETS's location.
